Somos o sono e o sonhar. Somos p\u00e1ssaros sem asas, bra\u00e7os querendo abra\u00e7os, linhas querendo n\u00f3s, desejos querendo encontros. Somos a possibilidade da cria\u00e7\u00e3o, da inven\u00e7\u00e3o, da reflex\u00e3o. Somos o olhar escondido, o fio estendido, o encontro perdido. Somos muitos, somos m\u00faltiplos e, no entanto, somos apenas n\u00f3s.<\/p>\n<p>Bel Barcellos traz em sua obra as delicadezas da vida, as entre linhas das rela\u00e7\u00f5es. No desenho bordado, o olhar para o outro, a percep\u00e7\u00e3o das igualdades e diferen\u00e7as, as palavras ditas e as guardadas. O confronto do silencio eloquente e da imobilidade repleta de gestos, cria a vontade de interferir e, nas entre linhas, escrever nosso pr\u00f3prio texto. Como num jogo de tabuleiro, as escolhas se imp\u00f5em, e os momentos de escurid\u00e3o se alternam com a leveza e a paz da claridade.<\/p>\n<p>Sobre n\u00f3s est\u00e3o o c\u00e9u, os p\u00e1ssaros, a copa das \u00e1rvores. Existe a promessa de infinito, de voos mais livres, do desejo das alturas. Haver\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m uma promessa de amor eterno do homem e da mulher sob os galhos secos? Ser\u00e1 encontro ou despedida? Estar\u00e3o trocando palavras doces ou desfiar\u00e3o m\u00e1goas antigas? Na verdade \u00e9 somente um casal e uma \u00e1rvore despida. O resto \u00e9 apenas o nosso olhar.<\/p>\n<p>E \u00e9 ent\u00e3o que a artista nos apresenta uma interroga\u00e7\u00e3o: Aonde est\u00e1 voc\u00ea? Aonde voc\u00ea se escondeu? Brincando de esconde-esconde, tapamos os olhos e fingimos que, como n\u00e3o vemos, ningu\u00e9m tamb\u00e9m nos v\u00ea. N\u00e3o vemos as sombras, os nossos dem\u00f4nios, o outro. Quem se esconde quer ser achado, quem se perde quer o encontro. Ser\u00e1? Mas quem procura precisa abrir bem os olhos, contar at\u00e9 tr\u00eas e partir confiante. Bel Barcellos prop\u00f5e, nesta s\u00e9rie, cinco situa\u00e7\u00f5es, todas parte do jogo que existe nos relacionamentos afetivos. Procura, dissimula\u00e7\u00e3o, desejo de encontrar, esconder, revelar. Seus bordados e tra\u00e7os refor\u00e7am a indaga\u00e7\u00e3o. O desenho delicado esconde a for\u00e7a de sua proposta revelando a percep\u00e7\u00e3o e sensibilidade com que constr\u00f3i a sua po\u00e9tica.<\/p>\n<p>Costuras e bordados povoaram a inf\u00e2ncia de Bel, que a principio usava linhas e agulhas para passar o tempo. Mas o tempo passou e essa arte ficou em sua vida como forma de expressar seus anseios e ferramenta para suas obras. A figura feminina da tecel\u00e3 e bordadeira que puxa, amarra e corta os fios da vida est\u00e1 presente como s\u00edmbolo da mulher poderosa atrav\u00e9s dos s\u00e9culos. \u201cOs bordados tornaram-se t\u00e3o fortes e reveladores de uma linguagem que me traduzia que passaram a compor o desenho como um todo\u201d, acentua Bel Barcellos. A figura humana tem sido o cerne de suas pesquisas e nas s\u00e9ries mais recentes sua aten\u00e7\u00e3o tem se voltado para as rela\u00e7\u00f5es afetivas. Homens e mulheres, seus encontros e desencontros, buscas, desejos, escolhas. A linha desenha abra\u00e7os e despedidas enquanto a agulha fura o tecido, trazendo a lembran\u00e7a da dor. Na s\u00e9rie \u201cdes\/encontros\u201d, feita sobre antigos len\u00e7os que pertenceram a familiares, a artista tra\u00e7a reflex\u00f5es sobre partidas e despedidas que fazemos ao longo da vida. \u201cN\u00e3o tenha medo de deixar que se v\u00e1\u201d, fala da necessidade de desapegar, soltar e deixar seguir.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLivro de cabeceira\u201d traz o feminino, os sonhos e as imagens reveladoras despertadas. O linho branco \u00e9 suporte para os desenhos a grafite e bordados, t\u00e3o lindamente mesclados que \u00e9 dif\u00edcil dizer o que mais encanta. A atmosfera on\u00edrica permanece no olhar do expectador e cada obra desperta a sensa\u00e7\u00e3o de entrega e de paz.<\/p>\n<p>Bel Barcellos reuniu na mostra Como Somos obras que s\u00e3o bem mais do que divaga\u00e7\u00f5es sobre a condi\u00e7\u00e3o humana. Em todas h\u00e1 uma reflex\u00e3o silenciosa sobre o cotidiano do ser moderno que enfrenta o dif\u00edcil relacionamento com o outro. Abrigado ou aprisionado numa sociedade individualista, o homem tenta expressar suas aspira\u00e7\u00f5es e anseios em pequenos gestos de forma a n\u00e3o submergir na imensa multid\u00e3o que o cerca. We\u2019re sleep and dream. We\u2019re wingless birds, arms wanting embraces, lines wanting knots, desires wanting encounters. We\u2019re the possibility of creation, of invention, of reflection. We\u2019re the hidden gaze, the extended thread, the lost encounter. We\u2019re many, we\u2019re multiples and, yet, we are only us.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Bel Barcellos evokes in her work the delicacies of life, the Between threads of relationships. In the embroidered drawing, the gaze towards the other, the perception of the similarities and differences, the words spoken and those kept. The confrontation of eloquent silence and immobility filled with gestures creates the will to interfere and, between threads, write our own text. As in a board game, the choices impose themselves, and the moments of darkness alternate with the peace of lightness and clarity.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Above us are the sky, the birds, the treetops. There is the promise of the infinite, of freer flights, of the desire for heights. Is there also the promise of eternal love between man and woman underneath the dry branches? Is it an encounter or farewell? Are they exchanging sweet words or unveiling past woes? In reality it is only a couple and a naked tree. The rest is only our sight.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It is then that the artist offers us a reflection: Where are you? Where did you hide? Playing hide and seek, we cover our eyes and pretend that, since we can\u2019t see, others can\u2019t see us either. We don\u2019t see the shadows, our demons, the other. Those who hide want to be found, those who are lost want the encounter. Is it? But those who seek need to open wide their eyes, count to three and depart confidently. Bel Barcellos proposes, in this series, five situations, all of them part of the game that exists in affective relationships. Pursuit, dissimulation, desire to find, hide, reveal. The stitches of her embroideries reinforce the questioning. The delicate drawing masks the strength of her proposal revealing the perception and sensibility by which she crafts her poetics.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Seams and embroideries were a frequent part of Bel\u2019s childhood, who initially used threads and needles to pass the time. But time went by and this art form stayed in her life as a way to express her yearnings and as a tool for her work. The female figure of the seamstress that pulls, ties and cuts the threads of life is present as a symbol of the powerful woman throughout the centuries. \u201cThe embroideries became so strong and revealing of a language that translated me that they began to compose the drawing as a whole\u201d, points Bel Barcellos. The human figure has been the core of her research and in recent series her attention has turned to affective relationships. Men and women, their matches and mismatches, searches, desires, decisions. The thread sketches embraces and farewells while the needle pierces the fabric, bringing back memories of pain. In the series Farewell, done on old handkerchiefs that belonged to the family, the artist reflects on the departures and farewells we go through in life. \u201cDon\u2019t be afraid to let it go\u201d, she says regarding the need to detach, set loose and let go.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Pillow Book evokes the feminine, the dreams and the awoken revealing images. The white linen is the background for the graffiti drawings and embroideries, so beautifully intertwined that it is difficult to tell what delights the most. The oneiric atmosphere lingers on the spectator\u2019s sight and each work arouses a feeling of openness and peace. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Bel Barcellos gathered at the exhibition As we are works that are far more than mere observations on the human condition. In each of them there is a silent reflection on the daily life of the modern subject who faces a difficult relationship with others. Sheltered or imprisoned in an individualistic society, people try to express their aspirations and yearnings through small gestures so that they don\u2019t submerge in the immense crowd that surrounds them.
