Gil<\/p>\n<p>Prociss\u00e3o poderia ser um belo t\u00edtulo de uma s\u00e9rie de pinturas de Bel Barcellos. E \u00e9. Assim como rezadeiras, esquecidas, m\u00e3es, velhas beatas. O universo feminino, m\u00eestico e ancestral na obra desta pintora \u00e9 a mais sublime representa\u00e7\u00e3o do humano. Seus seres habitam outro mundo que n\u00e3o o nosso, elas trazem em sua aura do imaterial, do ato criador sendo a pr\u00f3pia criatura. Exterior e interior, luz e sombra, pele e carne de um mesmo ser que emerge de um fundo de cor, ora terrosa, ora escura, quase l\u00fagubre.<\/p>\n<p>Na prociss\u00e3o de Bel Barcellos as mulheres caminham em ato contrito, numa marcha solene de car\u00e1ter religioso. Adoram algo que est\u00e1 fora do quadro, em algum lugar que a pr\u00f3pia hist\u00f3ria da arte guarda. Sua mulher vem do \u201c pai Millet\u201d, como Van Gogh o chamava. Mas ela \u00e9 apenas um entre tantos outros seres que a artista poderia se apropiar, como uma Madonna de Cimabue ou Giotto. O que importa para a artista \u00e9 a representa\u00e7\u00e3o atrav\u00e9s de uma imagem que n\u00e3o \u00e9 aquela e sim sua nova significa\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Atrav\u00e9s do processo dos carimbos( a artista desenha uma imagem num pl\u00e1stico, cobre com tinta e aplica sobre a tela ), Bel Barcellos transfere assim a \u201calma\u201d da pintura e, desta maneira, serializa-as, mudando sempre o fundo, a luz, ou a cor. Essa dessacraliza\u00e7\u00e3o da imagem \u00e9 tamb\u00e9m um moto cont\u00ednuo em seu trabalho.<\/p>\n<p>A vis\u00e3o de sua Prociss\u00e3o traz uma ant\u00edtese da imagem original. Enquanto a camponesa de Millet larga seus afazeres para entrar num mundo espiritual, de adora\u00e7\u00e3o, mantendo-se im\u00f3vel, as mulheres de Bel Barcellos movem-se pela for\u00e7a da disposi\u00e7\u00e3o das telas enfileiradas, uma a uma, num incessante murm\u00fario de rezas e passos arrastados. Ou\u00e7amos, apenas\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Assim, esta Prociss\u00e3o arrasta nossos sentidos, envieza nossas almas, nos p\u00f5e de joelhos diante da humilhante condi\u00e7\u00e3o humana. Assim como Millet, a artista quer nos fazer lembrar que somente na arte h\u00e1 esperan\u00e7as, h\u00e1 reden\u00e7\u00e3o. Gil<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Procession could be a nice title for a series of paintings by Bel Barcellos. And it is. As well as faith healer, forgotten ones, mothers, blessed old women. The feminine, mystical and ancestral universe in this painter\u2019s work is the most sublime representation of what\u2019s human. Their beings inhabit a different world that is not ours, they bring their aura from the immaterial, from the creative act as the creature itself. Exterior and interior, light and shadow, skin and flesh from the same being that emerges from a colored background, at times earthy, others dark, almost gloomy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In Bel Barcellos\u2019 procession, women walk in a contrite manner, a solemn march of religious character. They adore something that is outside the painting, laying somewhere preserved by history of art itself. Her woman comes from \u201cdad Millet\u201d, as Van Gogh used to call him. But she is only one amongst the many beings that the artist could have chosen, like a Madonna by Cimabue or Giotto. What matters to the artist is the representation by means of an image that is not the image itself, but rather its new significance.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>By means of a stamping procedure (the artist draws an image on plastic, covers it with paint and applies it over the canvas), Bel Barcellos transfers the \u201csoul\u201d of the painting and, in this manner, creates a series by continuously changing the background, the light, or the color. This desacralizing of the image is also a recurring theme in her work.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The vision of her Procession makes an antithesis to the original image. While Millets peasant abandons her affairs in order to enter a spiritual world, one of adoration, keeping herself immobile, Bel Barcellos\u2019 women move by force of the arrangement of lined up canvasses, one by one, in an incessant chattering of prayers and dragged footsteps.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Thus, this procession drags our senses, skews our souls, bends us to our knees before the humiliating human condition. Just like Millet, the artist wants to remind us that only in art there is hope and redemption.
