Esse instrumento t\u00edpico da obsess\u00e3o dos artistas humanistas, desde Michelangelo e Donatello a De Chirico e Iber\u00ea Camargo. Mas o que est\u00e1 por tr\u00e1s destas transfigura\u00e7\u00f5es, mat\u00e9rias e esp\u00edritos que emergem do fundo da tela, \u00e9 o pr\u00f3prio sentido da vida e, por consequ\u00eancia, da arte. As mulheres de Bel Barcellos n\u00e3o s\u00e3o nada mais que a pr\u00f3pria hist\u00f3ria do homem,, do seu nascimento e morte `a transubstancia\u00e7\u00e3o. \u00c9 metaf\u00edsica ? Sim, mas o que importa se toda a hist\u00f3ria (da arte) \u00e9 por demais metaf\u00edsica? Suas gr\u00e1vidas, madonas, mortas, tristes rezadeiras, esquecidas, v\u00eam juntar-se \u00e0s entidades de Michel\u00e2ngelo, Bonnard, Klimt, Rodin, Schiele, Rauschenberg: uma linhagem que coloca o homem como s\u00edmbolo de um prop\u00f3sito art\u00edstico.<\/p>\n

Her motif is the body, this typical instrument of the Humanist obsession since Michelangelo and Donatello to De Chirico and Iber\u00ea Camargo. But, what is behind these transfigurations, these flesh and spirits which emerge from within the canvases, is the real meaning of life and, consequently, of art. Bel Barcellos\u2019 women are nothing but the actual history of humanity, from its birth and death, to transubstantiation. Is this metaphysics? Yes, but does it matter if the whole history (of art) is in itself metaphysics.
