Passou a inf\u00e2ncia no Recife e desde 1984 vive e trabalha no Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n<p>Formou-se em cenografia pela Uni-Rio, em 1989. Em 1990 foi como bolsista da CAPES para a Inglaterra onde recebeu, com louvor, o t\u00edtulo de Mestre em artes c\u00eanicas pela University of Hull.<\/p>\n<p>Sua obra divaga sobre os aspectos emocionais e psicol\u00f3gicos que perpassam os ciclos da vida, discutindo as dualidades da exist\u00eancia, os sonhos, ang\u00fastias, escolhas, limites, afetos e as nuances das rela\u00e7\u00f5es humanas. Atrav\u00e9s da representa\u00e7\u00e3o figurativa, suas pesquisas passaram por aguadas de acr\u00edlica, desenhos e transfers com grafite para, desde 2009, se firmarem no bordado como linguagem representativa de fortes refer\u00eancias femininas. Suas obras s\u00e3o constru\u00eddas lentamente, como um invent\u00e1rio artesanal e pr\u00f3prio, que segue desafiando a acelera\u00e7\u00e3o da vida contempor\u00e2nea, transmutando poesia t\u00eaxtil em tempo t\u00e1til.<\/p>\n<p>Desde 1995 vem expondo seu trabalho em diversos museus e centros culturais no Brasil e no exterior. Destacam-se as exposi\u00e7\u00f5es individuais no Museu de Belas Artes do Rio de Janeiro em 1995; na Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim, em 1996; no Centro de Estudos Brasileiros de Maputo, em Mo\u00e7ambique, em 1997; no Museu da Rep\u00fablica do Rio de Janeiro, em 1998; e entre os anos de 2005 e 2009, sua individual \u201cDe t\u00e3o Alvas, quase almas\u201c percorreu v\u00e1rios espa\u00e7os culturais como o Centro Cultural Correios no Rio de Janeiro, Museu de Arte Contempor\u00e2nea de Olinda, SESC Petr\u00f3polis e Museu Brasileiro de Escultura em S\u00e3o Paulo. Em 2010 sua individual \u201cFios\/Hilos\u201d ocupou tr\u00eas salas do Museu MACAY, no M\u00e9xico, integrando o panorama sobre a Arte Contempor\u00e2nea do Brasil.<\/p>\n<p>Em galerias comerciais, realizou as individuais \u201cN\u00f3s\u201d na HAP Galeria , no Rio de Janeiro; em 2014, \u201cComo Somos\u201d na Galeria Karla Oz\u00f3rio; Bras\u00edlia, em 2016, e \u201cConex\u00f5es\u201d na galeria Gaby Indio da Costa Arte Contempor\u00e2nea, no Rio de Janeiro, em 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Dentre as mostras coletivas que participou, destacam-se: \u201cMulheres na cole\u00e7\u00e3o MAR\u201d, Museu de Arte do Rio, 2019; \u201cDe Pedras \u00e0 p\u00e1ssaros: dire\u00e7\u00f5es e sentidos\u201d, na O\u00c1 Galeria, em Vit\u00f3ria, 2019; \u201cLacunas Preenchidas\u201d, Galeria da Villa Aymor\u00e9, no Rio de Janeiro, 2019; \u201cDrawing Lines\u201d na Sh\u00fcebbe Projects em D\u00fcsseldorf, 2009; \u201cBrasilidades\u201d, no Centro Cultural da Light, no Rio de Janeiro, em 2000 e \u201cO feminino\u201d no Museu da Rep\u00fablica, no Rio de Janeiro, em 1997.<\/p>\n<p>Seu trabalho faz parte do acervo do Ella Fontanal-Cisneros Collection, do Museu de Arte do Rio de Janeiro, Museu Nacional de Belas Artes, Centro Cultural Correios, Cia Souza Cruz S\/A e tamb\u00e9m de diversas cole\u00e7\u00f5es particulares, no Rio, S\u00e3o Paulo, Portugal e Alemanha.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div><div  class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion_builder_column_1_2  fusion-one-half fusion-column-last 1_2\"  style='margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:20px;width:50%;width:calc(50% - ( ( 4% ) * 0.5 ) );'>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper\" style=\"padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px;background-position:left top;background-repeat:no-repeat;-webkit-background-size:cover;-moz-background-size:cover;-o-background-size:cover;background-size:cover;\"  data-bg-url=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"fusion-text\"><p><em>Bel Barcellos was born in Boston, 1966. As a child, she lived in Recife and since 1984 lives and works in Rio de Janeiro.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>She graduated in Theatre Design at the University of Rio, in 1989. In 1990, she was granted a scholarship by CAPES to study at the University of Hull, England, and received a Master\u00b4s degree in Theatre Design, with distinction.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Bel Barcellos\u2019s works dwells on the emotional and psychological aspects of life, discussing the dualities of existence, dreams, anguishes, choices, limits, affections and the hues of human relationships. Through figurative representation, her pictoric investigations ranged initially from acrylic paintings to pencil drawings and transfers, finding her expression, since 2009, in the use of embroidery, as a language embedded with strong female references. Her works are constructed slowly, like an intimate and crafted inventory, in contrast to the speedy contemporary life, transmuting textile poetry into tactile time.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Since 1995, Bel Barcellos has exhibited her work in several museums and institutions in Brazil and abroad. The most significant solo shows were held at the Museu de Belas Artes of Rio de Janeiro in 1995; at the Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim, in 1996; at the Centro de Estudos Brasileiros of Maputo, in Mozambique, in 1997; at the Museu da Rep\u00fablica of Rio de Janeiro, in 1998; and from 2005 to 2009, the show \u201cWhiteness, quasi-souls\u201c went itinerant to several cultural institutions such as the Centro Cultural Correios in Rio de Janeiro, the Museu de Arte Contempor\u00e2nea of Olinda, the SESC Petr\u00f3polis and the Museu Brasileiro de Escultura in S\u00e3o Paulo.
